UGA vs. Ole Miss Basketball

Bulldogs hope to continue hot streak at home against Rebels

ATHENS, Ga. - A home stand is exactly what a 14-9 Georgia needs to face the 9-14 Rebels. The Feb. 7 tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside Stegeman Coliseum on the Bulldogs’ home turf in Athens, Georgia.

Georgia is looking to use home court to their advantage, posting an 11-1 record when playing at home this season. Georgia’s overall record versus Ole Miss is 77-46, with 42 of those wins taking place in Athens.

Their most recent matchup on Jan. 14 saw the Bulldogs overtake the Rebels late in the game to secure a 62-58 victory. Even after the road win, Georgia head coach Mike White is careful not to overestimate Ole Miss.

“[They are a] hard playing overall roster, they’ve been really competitive, I think their record is very misleading,” said White.

The similarity between the two teams’ style of basketball is what makes this matchup so tantalizing. Both Georgia and Ole Miss rely heavily on their bench to make it through a game successfully, each team boasting 10 players that log double-digit minutes each game.

This depth was easily seen in the previous meeting between these two teams. Ole Miss will be sure to have their eye on Kario Oquendo, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard responsible for hitting back-to-back 3-pointers to overtake the Rebels in their last meeting.

As star senior guard Terry Roberts is listed as questionable due to a concussion, coach White might be looking to junior guard Justin Hill to fill Roberts’ shoes. Hill, who averages 7.2 PPG and is coming off of a season-high scoring game, 20 points against Texas A&M, is looking forward to playing at home again.

“[It] Brings more confidence with the fans and the crowd just being into the game and it has an effect so I can’t wait,” said Hill.

In addition to a home crowd bringing good luck, coach White possesses an 18-2 all-time record at Stegeman Coliseum. Before becoming the newest addition to the Bulldog coaching staff, White had a record of 7-1 in Athens.

As the Bulldogs take the court on Tuesday night, they will no doubt be looking across a sea of red and black amidst the 10,000+ seats.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
